Support to eGames federation stressed

Manama, Oct. 22 (BNA): Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar has affirmed the committee’s support to eGames as per recommendations submitted by the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports to develop mind sports. The statement was issued following Askar meeting with Bahrain Mind Sports and E-Sports Federation president Ali Shuwaiter and board member and head of eGames Committee Ali Sharfi. They also introduced Abdulhakam Kareen, who became the first Bahraini to enter Guinness World Records after earning 1691 trophy platinum points in e-Games, as well as Sayed Hashim Ahmed, winner of the best Middle East player in 2017 and winner of the 2018 Confederations Cup. Askar commended the efforts of the federation to develop mind sports and eGames and congratulated Kareem on his achievement, which further boosts Bahrain’s international sports reputation. Askar also expressed pride in Ahmed's achievement that underlines the nation’s abilities in the field of eGames, and wished both the players progress. He extended his keenness to contribute to the development of eGames in Bahrain, a section that was recently included as part of the Bahrain Mind Sports Federation. Shuwaiter thanked BOC, headed by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, for its continued support to all national sports federations, especially the mind sports federation. He affirmed the federation’s commitment to focus on eGames in order to develop it and qualify players who can duly represent Bahrain at international challenges.
