Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Delegation Participates in Qatari - French Business Forum

Paris, June 25 (QNA) -The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy participated in an event in Paris, France organized yesterday by the Qatari French Business Council at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Quai DOrsay. The event took place simultaneously with the official visit of HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al -Thani to France. The event, which was attended by H.E. Jean-Christophe Peaucelle, Ambassador of the French Republic to the State of Qatar, was held with the purpose of showcasing the infrastructural development taking place in Qatar and bringing together French and Qatari entities in order to build on existing relationships and create new partnerships for the future. Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, opened the session focusing on the 2022 FIFA World Cup noting that both Qatar and France had major events on the horizon with France hosting the European Championships in 2016 and Qatar hosting the Middle East’s first FIFA World Cup in 2022. He told the audience that Qatars vision for 2022 was for the country and wider region to experience an effect similar to what France experienced when it hosted the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Al Thawadi concluded by noting that the Committee was looking for partners who can add true value to our vision, through innovation and creativity committed to working with us for the long-term and to playing a role in the sustainable development of Qatar. Eng. Ghanim Al Kuwari, Competition Venues Director for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, presented an overview of the Technical Programme for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, detailing projects specific to the event including stadium and training infrastructure. An important element of the workshop was the presentations provided by the President of Ashghal, Eng. Nasser bin Ali Al Mawlawi and Eng. Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al Subaei, Managing Director and Chairman of the Executive Committee for Qatar Rail. Both presentations focused on detailing the national infrastructure plans relating to transportation to the forum attendees and outlining how these national plans will function in terms of delivering a successful 2022 FIFA World Cup. The event had a particular focus on three areas of mutual interest including the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the energy sector and information and communication technologies.(QNA)
