Third day of Incheon Para Asiad: Iran

INCHEON, Oct. 20 (MNA) – Iran’s Incheon sport delegation in Para Asiad has won medals; however, it suffered some defeats as well. In the third day of the Para Asiad, Iran’s sitting volleyball defeated Japan in three straight sets on Monday morning local time. This was second such win after yesterday’s crushing of Mongolia. In goalball, Iran won hosting South Korea 10-4, and will play Mongolia on Tuesday. Iran had won Iraq in its first game before. In track and field, which resumed today morning local time in the main stadium, Iran’s Hashemieh Mottaqian won a silver medal in women’s javelin F55/56 Class with a record of 14.22 meters. Iran’s second representative Leila Maleki won bronze with a record of 13.48 meters. In men’s 200M T12 Seyed Habib Hosseini came second with 23.28 seconds to win silver. Chinese runner was first to cross the finish line, and Thai athlete came third. In men’s weight throw F11/12 Class, Masoud Heidari set a new record of 13.82 meters, however came only second to secure silver medal. In women’s badminton, Iran’s Maryam Rahmani lost in two sets to Japan’s player with two consecutive 6-21 sets to end her career in the games. Japanese athlete was qualified for the next round.
