World Boxing Championships Opens in Doha

Doha, October 05 (QNA) - HE Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani on Monday opened the 18th edition of AIBA World Boxing Championships (Doha 2015), which is being staged at Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena at Al Sadd Club and runs until October 15. AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu attended the ceremony along with QOC Secretary General Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari who heads the organizing committee, Qatar Boxing Federation President Yusuf Ali Al Kazim and other sporting personalities and heads of delegations. The ceremony featured different segments that reflected the authenticity of Qatar's heritage before the tournament was declared open, with games set to kick off on Tuesday. The tournament will see 260 boxers from 74 world countries take part in the competition. (QNA)
