Young Malaysian Keglers Add Two More Gold Medals On Final Day

KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) -- Malaysian junior keglers added two more gold medals on the final day of the 18th Asian Youth Bowling Championship in Macau, Tuesday, to cap a brilliant outing in the championships. The two gold medals came through Muhammad Rafiq Ismail and Natasha Roslan in the Boy's and Girl's Masters events, respectively. The young bowlers concluded their campaign at the 18th Asian Youth Bowling Championship with six gold, three silver and one bronze. Muhammad Rafiq, the newly crowned national champion, added another feather to his cap by clinching his fourth individual gold medal after heading the 16-game Masters event with 3,873 pinfalls before meeting Billy M Islam from Indonesia in the stepladder final. He defeated his challenger 203-183 to claim his fourth gold medal in the championship while Billy booked his berth after defeating Enzo Hernandez from the Philippines, 256-216. Muhammad Rafiq had already won the singles, doubles and all-events gold medals. In the girl's category, Natasha Roslan had to face Australia's Emily Rigney in a one-game decider before emerging victorious. Natasha, 19, who advanced as the top seed in the stepladder final, lost her first match 180-202 to Emily but regained her composure in the decider to win 244-204. Emily had booked her berth in the final by defeating Futaba Imai of Japan, 248-173. --BERNAMA
