Yousef Al Kazim Seeks to Develop Wrestling at Continental and International Levels

Doha, May 31 (QNA) - The President of the Qatar Boxing Federation and Qatar Wrestling Federation Dr Yousef Ali Al Kazim said that his appointment as the head of Committee for Planning and Development of the Asian Wrestling Confederation is one of the fruits of Qatar's comprehensive renaissance, which covers all fields including sports, pledging to do his best in his new position to develop wrestling, at domestic, continental or international levels. In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Kazim said that the establishment of the committee was basically an innovative Qatari idea aimed at improving the level of this sport and making it shines internationally. Al Kazim added that Qatar had submitted a proposal to establish the Planning and Development Committee during the Asian Wrestling Meeting with the participation of 34 countries from Asia. The proposal was presented through a practical and field idea and the formation of a planning and development committee came with the main role in developing many perceptions of the Confederation through giving attention to trainers referees, technicians and doctors in the age groups of wrestlers in order to develop them and make them compete on the international level and not just in Asia. He explained that the idea was welcomed by the Executive Office, which was keen to add this committee as part of the five committees through the granting of the post of the Committee President and the addition of two other members one from Nepal, and the other from Kazakhstan, leaving the freedom to choose another members to the President of the Committee. Al Kazim stressed that this idea will be applied to these countries through development, coordination, statistics and referees and their training methods, and this will be the responsibility of the new committee whose role is to monitor other existing committees and their working methods and help them improve their level. Al Kazim pointed out that in the coming period, a meeting will be held between all the confederation committees to define the tasks of each committee in detail and identify their tasks and establish a clear mechanism of action. This is the basis of the new proposal that we have submitted, and it is based mainly on the development of plans for courses and workshops so that their dates do not conflict with the regional and international wrestling calendar. Al Kazim stressed that the Asian wrestling championships is considered as one of the strongest championships currently in place. Therefore, a well thought-out plan has been drawn up for a short period of time, so that the Qatari participation will be positive to achieve results. Al Kazim added that during the coming period, the Qatar Wrestling Federation will not organize any local or Asian or international championships in Doha, because the focus is on the Asian wrestling championships and we are afraid of injuries that would happen to our players, like what happened in Sudan when one of our key players injured there. Al Kazim appointment to head the new committee is considered an achievement for Qatari sport, which has various regional and international achievements, on both the administrative level with Qatari officials occupying some of the highest positions in world sport, and athletes winning titles and medals at various international events.
