1st Asean Countries Higher Education Forum 2014 Held In Nilai

NILAI (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia), Nov 26 (Bernama) -- The 1st Asean Countries Higher Education Forum 2014 will provide an opportunity to pool the knowledge and experiences of various experts, particularly in technology, says Department of Higher Education director-general Prof Dr Asma Ismail. In line with this, she said much stronger links were needed between universities and the private sector. "It is the best way to ensure that students graduate with skills which reflect what employers actually need. "These steps will help bridge the gap between what's being taught in universities and the realities of the job market," she said when officiating the two-day forum beginning Tuesday, at the Higher Education Leadership Academy (Akept) near here. The theme of the forum is 'New Frontiers in Learning and Teaching in Pursuit of the 21st Century Education'. The event also saw the signing of a memorandum of agreement (MoA) between Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and Prince Songkla University, Silpakorn University, Khon Kaen University and Chulalongkorn University. The forum is jointly organised by USM, Malaysian Education Ministry and Akept, among others. -- BERNAMA
