Advance Technologies and Scientific Co-op Council Established

Tehran, May 19, IRNA – Director of International Affairs of Center for Cooperation and innovation of Presidential Office said Advanced Technologies and Scientific Cooperation Council has been established to institutionalize technology and science diplomacy. Ali Morteza Birang told IRNA on Friday that the council was established following signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the center and Foreign Ministry in the past year. He also said attachés in technology and science affairs will be sent to other countries and there are now such attachés in seven countries. Birang added a meeting on technology diplomacy for developing countries was held in Tehran on May 13-15, 2012, and representatives from 20 developing countries from Asia and Africa participated in the event. He said there are constructive connections between Foreign Ministry and activists in the field of science and technology, so a bureau has been formed in Foreign Ministry dubbed as Office for Technology and Science Cooperation./end
