CMCF 'Click Smart ' Campaign A Draw At KL Converge

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- The 'Click smart'(KDB) campaign by the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF) was a draw at the KL Converge 2014 conference and exhibition here Wednesday. The campaign is aimed at instilling public awareness on internet safety. Visitors including 30 national service trainees were seen crowding the KDB booth at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, where the event was being held. The three-day event is organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and National Film Development Corporation (Finas). CMCF operations executive, Khairul Amin Abd Rashid said the interactive activities in the campaign were more relaxed. "This is the second phase of the campaign. We don't want it to be too serious, so that the students would not easily get bored. "We are focusing on four issues, internet addiction, cyber bullying, circulation of false information and online transaction fraud," he told Bernama. KDB was introduced by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to educate the society on exercising caution when using the Internet. Khairul Amin said CMCF was set up in February 2001 to operate as a complaints bureau but not many people knew about its existence. "The number of complaints we received was only about 10 a year. But after the campaign which we held nationwide, the complaints grew to more than 400 a year," he said. -- BERNAMA
