ICT minister meets Qatari prime minister

Doha, Dec 9, IRNA – Information and Communications Minister Mahmoud Vaezi had a meeting here Monday with Prime Minister of Qatar Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani. The Iranian ICT minister is in Doha on an invitation by his Qatari Counterpart Hessa Al Jaber to participate in Doha 2004 Telecom Conference. “The IRI President Hojjatoleslam Hassan Rouhani has ever since taking office emphasized the need for expansion of relations with neighboring countries and in that respect we intend to expand comprehensive bilateral ties, especially in ICT field,” said Vaezi in his meeting with the Qatari premier. “The two countries with their potentials and their facilities can improve their trade balance up to a satisfactory level,” added the Iranian minister. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, too, for his part highlighted the significance of expansion of comprehensive ties with Iran, especially in political, economic and cultural fields. Referring to Iran’s advancement in various ICT fields, the Qatari high ranking official also welcomed the expansion of Tehran-Doha relations in telecom field. “Qatar’s new Al Rwais Port has been opened in the north, providing good opportunity for further expansion of Iran-Qatar economic and commercial ties,” added the prime minister. At the end to the meeting the Iranian minister delivered First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri’s invitation to the Qatari prime minister for an official visit of Iran./end
