Iran, Hungary to form joint cmte. on sci-tech coop.

TEHRAN, Nov. 07 (MNA) – Iran’s VP for science and technology and the Hungarian minister of agriculture agreed to form a joint committee in the fields of agriculture, fisheries and environment. Iran’s Vice-President for Science and Technology and the President of Iran’s National Elites Foundation Sorena Sattari took part in the opening ceremony of the seventh World Science Forum (WSF) in Budapest which was attended by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as well as the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. At a meeting with Hungary’s Minister of Agriculture Sándor Fazekas, Iran’s Sattari discussed various issues including preventing water evaporation in dams viewing technological collaboration of the two countries’ private sectors as well as on cooperation in environmental protection. Considering the already existing joint commission for collaboration between Iranian and Hungarian ministries of agriculture, the two sides agreed to create a joint committee in the fields of agriculture, fisheries and environment as well. Accordingly, the joint committee will set proper grounds for exchange of technology, higher education and related research studies in conjunction with the private sector in various areas of technology, agriculture, fisheries, water, environment, forestry, veterinary medicine as well as fish farming. Other areas to be covered by the committee include research and technology in areas like stem cells and stem cell-related achievements in veterinary cattle, seed and resistant seed production. Sattari is scheduled to visit Hungary’s Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center in the city of Budapest as well as Hungary's National Center for Agricultural Research and Innovation. In addition to giving a lecture at the WSF session, he has also met with Ödön Lechner, Head of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and will visit Hungary’s Center for Energy Research. Being held in Budapest from 4 to 7 November 2015, the main theme of the 2015 Forum will be the "Enabling Power of Science" reflecting on the way how science opens new paths for the improvement of human life, business innovation and policy making. In the course of 6 plenary and 9 thematic sessions and over 70 lectures the most excellent speakers of the world of science, politics and society will present their views to the participants of the Forum. For the first time, a high-ranking Iranian delegation led by Iran’s vice-president for science and technology and the president of Iran’s National Elites Foundation is attending the WSF summit.
