Iran, Iraq boost communication cooperation

TEHRAN, Jan. 26 (MNA) – Iran minister of communications and information technology met with his Iraqi counterpart to discuss communication cooperation. The meeting was held to discuss and expand the Iran-Iraq ties in fields of communications and information technology. Mahmoud Vaezi announced that a joint committee will be formed to develop the cooperation between Iran and Iraq considering the fields of post, post bank, satellites, cell phones, and telephones. Pointing to shared religious background and the large number of Iranian pilgrims visiting Iraq annually, Vaezi emphasized on maintaining strategies to facilitate the communications between pilgrims in two countries such as reducing roaming tariffs and enhancing the quality of services. Hassan kazem Al-Rashed, Iraqi official, stressed the joint interests of two countries and said “Iran and Iraq both have notable positions in Middle East and have the capacity to cooperate culturally, socially, politically and economically. He also described the ground of cooperation in ICT field as vast and great and asked for Iran’s support to develop the industry in Iraq.
