Iran starts chemical catalysts' production

Tehran, Nov 23, IRNA - Iranian researchers have launched the production line of 19 catalysts, which can be used in petrochemical industry and 17 catalysts for use in sulfuric acid production. Mohammad Mazidi, one of the project researchers, said sulfuric acid catalysts, including cesium, rubidium, high vanadium and low vanadium catalysts, are manufactured by Iranian Catalyst Development Company, according to Sunday's edition of 'Iran Daily'. He explained that the high-performance catalysts convert SO2 to SO3 for use in sulfuric acid production. Mazidi noted that by balancing activity and hardness, the catalysts boost plant capacity and savings, while reducing SO2 emissions. “Iran needs one ton of sulfuric acid catalyst per day, which can be met by launching the production line,” he said. He further said researchers have launched methanol, ammonia and ETR catalysts, which can be used in petrochemical industry. The investigator noted that the vast technical expertise and sulfuric acid production know-how have resulted in a line of high-performance sulfuric acid catalyst products. Founded in 2010, Iranian Catalyst Development Company started the production of a variety of catalysts. It cooperates with Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran in catalyst production activities. The company aims to: • Conduct research and development of catalyst production process • Meet refinery and petrochemical industries’ demands • Optimize utilization of local raw materials in the best possible way • Develop catalysts for oil, gas and petrochemical market • Generate new jobs • Capture overseas markets./end
