Iran, Tanzania to cooperate in medical field

TEHRAN, Dec. 16 (MNA) – In his visit to Tehran, Tanzania’s minister of health met and discussed with his Iranian counterpart. In a meeting held on Monday, Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education Hassan Hashemi and his Tanzanian counterpart Suleiman Mohammed Rashid signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the areas of health and medical cooperation. During the meeting, Dr. Hashemi pointed to the longstanding relations and the common religious ties between the two countries and said “Iran and Tanzania can develop helpful and effective relationship in the area of health.” Hassan Hashemi underlined the need for the transfer of technology between the two countries and announced readiness by Iran’s private sector to cooperate with and invest in the field of health in Tanzania. “Since 96% of Iran’s drugs are produced domestically and are consumed by regional countries,” Hashemi said “we hope to distribute Iranian-made drugs across the African region.” Hashemi went on saying that Iran’s Ministry of Health could cooperate with Tanzania in training manpower in various fields of medical, dental, pharmaceutical and other paramedical disciplines. Expressing satisfaction over Iran-Tanzania bilateral cooperation in the field of health, Tanzanian Minister of Health Suleiman Mohammed Rashid called on Iranian investors and companies to cooperate in building a pharmaceuticals factory in Tanzania.
