Iran Unveils Indigenous Combat Drone

Tehran, Sept 23, IRNA - Iran unveiled its first indigenous combat drone capable of carrying air-to-air missiles in a ceremony attended by Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami and a number of high-ranking military officials. The drone was unveiled in the ceremony marking the second day of the Sacred Defense Week which coincides with the anniversary of the Iraq’s invasion of Iran in 1980. The combat drone is designed to destroy all kinds of fighters, unmanned aircrafts and helicopters, Hatami said. Over the past years, Iran has attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems. The Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured its neighbors that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence./end
