IRNA technicians ward off cyber attack on news agency

Tehran, March 17, IRNA – Director general of IRNA Engineering and infrastructure department said on Tuesday the technicians warded off cyberattack on news agency. He said that the technicians managed to neutralize the malware and control the attack so that IRNA subscribers in other countries are now able to access the news network broadcast in different languages. Ali Reza Shourideh said that the cyberattack aimed to disrupt security installations and to make IRNA website out of access to the subscribers. The malware had increased number of requests to visit the site by seven times to disrupt the service line by exceeding the normal capacity of 1,000 clicks per second. Shourideh said that the main attacker on IRNA website is out of the country, but of course was shifting frequently. He added that the attacks started from last Wednesday March 11 until Monday March 16, 2015.
