Kim-Trump Meeting Expected To Last 45 Minutes, Bilateral Meeting To Follow

By Massita Ahmad SINGAPORE, June 12 (Bernama) -- North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un and United States President Donald J. Trump who finally met for their “nuclear peace” talks in Singapore, Tuesday, have entered into a one-to-one meeting expected to last about 45 minutes. The two leaders were earlier seen shaking hands at the the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island before the start of the meeting. The historic event was broadcast live by the host broadcaster Mediacorp. The two leaders also greeted each other with the following exchange of words: “I feel very great, we’re going to have a great discussion. I think, tremendous success. It will be tremendously successful...and it’s my honour and we will have a terrific relationship i have no doubt,” said Trump. “Well it was not easy to get here. The past work as fetters on our wings and the old prejudices and practices work as obstacles on our way forward. but we overcame all of them and we are here today,” Kim meanwhile said via an interpreter. Earlier, Trump left Shangri-La Hotel around 8am while Kim 15 minutes later from the St Regis Hotel. According to an official schedule released by the White House Monday, after their one-on-one meeting, accompanied only by translators, the two leaders and their senior officials will have a 90-minute expanded bilateral meeting. They would have a working lunch at about 11.30 am, said the report. Both leaders arrived in Singapore two days earlier from the planned Summit. -- BERNAMA
