Malaysia Has Potential To Be Asia's Hub For Security Industry

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The 4th General Police and Special Equipment Exhibition and Conference (GPEC) ASIA 2015 will prepare Malaysia to become the hub of the security industry in Asia. Home Deputy Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the conference, the fourth organised by Malaysia, would see the participation of security industry players from various countries. He said this would indirectly expose them to investment opportunities in the local industry, adding that besides ASEAN nations, there would also be participants from the United Kingdom, Russia, China and Germany. "It is also a platform which will open up opportunities for local security companies to introduce, exhibit and market their products, especially security equipment and technology, internationally," he added. Nur Jazlan was speaking to reporters after attending a handing-over ceremony of official cars sponsored by Volkswagen Group Malaysia at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) for the GPEC Asia 2015 here Thursday. GPEC Asia 2015, he said, would enable the police force, immigration department and armed forces to identify the latest products and technologies. "We will also be able to share information on the latest security technology and understand security issues, especially relating to cross-border crimes." GPEC ASIA 2015, which will include various security sectors involving among others, arms, communications, uniforms and vehicles will see the participation of 265 security-related companies. The GPEC ASIA 2015 conference and exhibition will be held for three days, beginning Oct 21, at the PWTC here. -- BERNAMA
