Researcher manufactures versatile drum pump

TEHRAN, Oct. 08 (MNA) – Iranian researcher has designed and manufactured versatile drum pump capable of transferring 220 liters of fluid in less than two minutes. Mohammad Ali Amouie, the head of knowledge-based spinoff company who is also a designer of versatile pump, told Mehr News that the anomatic pump could have potential applications in different industries. He also said that pumps used pneumatic compressors and would be useful to transfer low-viscosity fluids such as hydraulic and motor oil and other types of fluids “emptying 220-liter barrels in less than two minutes.” “No mobile part has been used in the pump; it works without electricity and needs no maintenance and repair practices,” he added. “Versatile pumps are portable, quickly installed, and without spillover, which has wide applications in auto-making, oil, gas and petrochemical industries,” said the head of the spinoff company. “Electrically powered pumps have been used to transfer fluids; which consume large amounts of electricity, and pose dangers of explosion when working with oil and gas industries,” Amouie said. “Drum pumps are used in food processing, CNC machines, floor cleaning machines, EDM machines, screw machines, and tanks,” he added. “Using electrically powered pumps would pose hazards of explosion with only a small spark would initiate a conflagration; however, versatile drum pumps rule out such dangers since it operates via pneumatic compressors,” he cited as an advantage of versatile pumps. “Vacuum pumps have been discontinued for erosive effect on motors and clogging impellers; versatile drum pumps guarantee easy upkeep and maintenance practices,” he noted.
