Tehran To host 1st Meeting ECO Communications Ministers

Tehran, Oct 28, IRNA -- First Meeting ECO Member States' Communications Ministers will open in Tehran on November 11. According to Public Relations Department of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, ministers from ten member states will convene in Tehran with the aim of promoting ties and cooperation in the fields of information technology and communications. The meeting seek to pave the way for transfer of technology, exchange of experience and technical know-how and promote cultural interaction among the member states. Sa'dabad Historical Complex will host the meeting. The ministers may present their lectures in English or Russian languages according to their nationality. An exhibition featuring the capabilities of the countries in the field of communications is one of the peripheral programs of the event. The Economic Cooperation Organization is an intergovernmental organization involving seven Asian and three Eurasian nation. It provides a platform to discuss ways to improve development and promote trade, and investment opportunities. The common objective is to establish a single market for goods and services, much like the European Union. ECO's secretariat and cultural department are located in Tehran, its economic bureau is in Turkey and its scientific bureau is situated in Pakistan. It was founded by Turkey, Iran and Pakistan./end
