Trina Solar Launches Trinahome Solar System In Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) – Trina Solar Ltd, a Chinese manufacturer of solar energy solutions, Tuesday launched its Trinahome solar system in Malaysia to help the government achieve its 20 per cent renewable energy (RE) target by 2025. In a statement Tuesday, the company said Trinahome is perfect for households and small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) wanting to reduce their energy bills and help the environment. Senior Sales Director Asia Pacific and Middle East, Ku Jun-Heong said RE accounted for two per cent of Malaysia’s energy mix, hence, there was ample opportunity seen towards increasing its share in the country. He also said solar energy is well-positioned to help achieve the 20 per cent RE target as the cost of solar energy had reduced dramatically over the past decade. “The cost of solar energy has reduced, thanks to new technology and ‘economies of scale’. The cost of fossil fuels, meanwhile, continues to increase,” he added. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, the amount of solar energy capacity in Malaysia rose to 362 MW in 2017 from 340 MW in 2016, representing a year-on-year increase of six per cent. Trina Solar said the increase was attributable to a growing appreciation for solar energy and positive government policies, such as feed-in tariffs and net energy metering. Considering Malaysia is near the equator and with plenty of sunshine all year round, it makes sense that solar energy could play an important role in the country's energy mix, it added. Trinahome can be installed in a day, depending on the weather, and on any roof-type in Malaysia. The solar panels and other parts are backed by Trina Solar warranties, including a 25-year power performance guarantee on the solar panels. -- BERNAMA
