UniMAP-LUT Strategic Cooperation To Enhance Academic Programmes, Research

KANGAR (Perlis, Malaysia), Nov 25 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has entered into a strategic cooperation with Lodz University of Technology (LUT) in Poland to enhance its academic programmes and research. UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Dr Kamarudin Hussin said they included a new programme under the university's Faculty of Engineering Technology (FETech) and a research product under the Centre of Excellence Geopolymer and Green Technology (CEGeoGTech). He said through the cooperation, FETech and CEGeoGTech agreed to conduct joint research in the field of thin film and alloy processing. A Letter of Intent for the cooperation between UniMAP and LUT Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was signed Wednesday. Kamarudin signed on behalf of UniMAP, while LUT was represented by its senior scientist, Prof Dr Adam Rylski. Kamarudin said LUT also agreed to have exchange of students and staff with UniMAP, which would be carried out periodically and would not involve administrative cost. "Apart from that, they also agreed to send final year students in material processing and post-graduate students in alloy research middle of next year for a period of two to four months," he said in a statement Wednesday. He said besides Poland, UniMAP were also working with several education institutions in the world, including from Croatia, Australia and Japan since last year. Last week, UniMAP's CEGeoGTech and the Centre of Material Engineering Studies, with the cooperation of the University of Queensland organised the 'Electronic Packaging Interconnect Technology Symposium (EPITS 2015) in Malaysia's northern state of Penang, he added. -- BERNAMA
