Vaezi meets heads of Thai TV network, ITU

Kuala Lumpur, Nov 15, IRNA – Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi met with Chairman of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Houlin Zhao and Secretary General of Thailand National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) and head of Thailand TV, Radio network Taris Ponseri in Bangkok on Tuesday. In the meeting with head of NBTC, Vaezi expressed hope that relations between the two countries will expand in trade, banking, industry, tourism and especially communication and information technology. Vaezi also expressed hope that draft proposals for memoranda of understanding concerning cooperation in the post and communication will be finalized and signed by the two sides. The Thai official announced his country's readiness for cooperation with Iran in all fields. He said that Iran's proposed MoUs are considered and will be finalized soon and added that the Thai side also prepared a draft MoU, which will be dispatched for the Iranian side. Ponseri expressed hope that the documents will be finalized and signed during visit of Thai Prime Minister to Iran next year. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the International Telecommunication Conference in Bangkok. Vaezi also met with Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Houlin Zhao and discussed cooperation between Iran and the union. Regarding Iran's active and effective role in communication, Zhao expressed the ITU readiness for more cooperation with Iran in all fields, especially academic and educational cooperation in information technology. Vaezi also attended the round table meeting of the ministers participating in the conference and explained Iran's plans and achievements in the field. He said Iran is an appropriate place for investment and cooperation in the post-JCPOA era. Vaezi is to leave Bangkok for Tehran on Tuesday evening. The ITU meeting kicked off in Bangkok, capital of Thailand on Monday and will last until Thursday. 1378/IRNA
