1.3 million foreigners and stateless persons from 189 countries visited Azerbaijan in six months

According to Azerbaijan`s State Statistics Committee, 1.325 million foreigners and stateless persons from 189 countries visited Azerbaijan in January-June 2018, which is 10.2 percent more than in the same period in 2017. According to the committee, 30.5 percent of the tourist arrivals were Russian citizens, 21.1 percent Georgia citizens, 11.1 percent Iranian citizens, 10.8 percent Turkish citizens, 3.6 percent the UAE citizens, 2.1 percent Iraqi citizens, 2 percent Ukrainian citizens, 18.7 percent citizens of other countries, and 0.1 percent stateless persons. The number of people who came from the EU member states in the first six month of the year increased 6.3 percent reaching 53,500 people, while those who arrived from the CIS countries grew 7.5 percent to 478,300 people. The number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad in the first half of 2018 saw a 6.3 percent increase. Of the total number of Azerbaijani citizens who visited foreign countries, 30.7 percent visited Georgia, 28.7 percent Iran, 21.2 percent Russia, 12.7 percent Turkey, 1.7 percent Ukraine, 1.2 percent the UAE, 3.8 percent visited other countries.
