AirAsia Officially Launches Direct Dhaka-KL Flights

KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- Low-cost airline AirAsia Bhd has officially launched its recent commencement of direct flights from Dhaka, Bangladesh (DAC) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL). AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Aireen Omar said the KUL-DAC route had carried over 24,000 passengers when it operated to and from Kuala Lumpur previously. "We are confident that the number will grow further as we are back with even stronger flight frequencies. "Bangladeshis can now fly to Singapore, Brunei or other parts of Asia and Australia through our extensive flight network," she said in a statement released in Dhaka Friday. Bangladesh Minister of Industries, Amir Hossain Amu, said Malaysia became one of the biggest foreign investors in Bangladesh after registering investments of over US$1.643 billion up till June 2014. "I am pleased to see AirAsia reviving this route that would bridge the two countries with daily flights and forge even stronger ties between us. "I believe that it would definitely stimulate economic growth for both countries with business and tourism activities," he said. -- BERNAMA
