"Chinggis Khaan" opera to be performed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A “Chinggis Khaan”, Mongolia's first rock opera by renown composer B.Sharav, will open the winter season of the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet on October 5. Young singers such as E.Amartuvshin, B.Erdenetuya and M.Dariimaa will first time perform in this production. The opera, which tells how Chinggis Khaan united the Mongol tribes and became their leader against the odds, combines opera singing with a rock beat and even with the Mongolian traditional elements such as throat-singing and the horse-head fiddle play. At the first performance of the opera in 2006, a popular rock group "Black Wolves" performed together with a 50-piece orchestra, mixing the folklore with electric guitars sounds.
