First Mideast offshore hotel under construction in Kish

Kish, Hormuzgan Prov., Feb 12, IRNA – Secretary of the Free Trade, Industrial and Economic Special Zones Supreme Council Akbar Torkan Wednesday inspected the tourism complex and the first offshore hotel in the Middle East in Kish Island. The hotel is being built in two onshore and offshore sections. In the offshore section it occupies an area of 60 thousand square meters while in the onshore section it is being built in a span of 12 thousand square meters with 130 rooms and 330 beds. The cost of the construction is estimated at 650 billion rials. It is due to start operation in the second half of the next calendar year (starting March 21). Torkan who was accompanied by Ali Asghar Mounesan, Managing Director of Kish Free Zone Organization, inspected a number of other projects at the island, including a 35 thousand ton jetty. He also inspected the eastern breakwater which is being widened for the unloading and reloading of materials. The breakwater has been built with an aim of increasing the development capacity and trade transactions in the region. Meanwhile, Torkan inspected an electric car with a 95 h/p which has recently been unveiled at the island. The car which causes no pollution is the product of one of the world well-known car manufacturing companies and has been imported to the island with an aim of environment protection. The life of the battery is seven years.
