Iran-Oman Call For Enhanced Tourism Co-op

Tehran, March 16, IRNA – Iranian and Omani tourism officials have called for further expansion of tourism cooperation between the two countries. Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, Masoud Soltanifar and Oman’s Minister of tourism, Ahmed bin Nasser al-Mehrz held talks on ways to augment tourist exchanges. The meeting was held on the sidelines of a visit to Muscat by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani earlier in the weekend. The Omani minister called on Iran to share its experience with Oman on reconstruction of archeological sites. Al-Mehrzi urged bilateral cooperation on health tourism. He called on Iran to allow the Omani citizens to use Iran’s medical capacities. The two officials reviewed the possibility of Oman’s investment in construction of hotels in Iran and an Omani delegation will visit Iran to develop cooperation in tourism industry. Boosting air travel and setting up a shipping line between Iran and Oman surfaced in the negotiations, IRNA reported./end
