'Jom Jelajah Terengganu' Carnival Highlights State's Cuisine, Handicrafts

KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) – City folk who wish to savour Terengganu cuisine and purchase its beautiful handicrafts should not miss the ‘Jom Jelajah Terengganu Carnival 2018’ being held at the AEON AU2 shopping complex, here. Themed ‘Ganu Molek Doh’, the nine-day ‘Let’s Tour Terengganu Carnival 2018’ from April 21 to 29 involves 24 entrepreneurs showcasing and selling their products, from songket to batik to delicacies and snacks. Terengganu Deputy State Secretary, Rosman Roslan said the carnival was the best platform for the government to promote the East Coast state’s authentic, beautiful culture and rich heritage. “Hopefully, with the presence of these minor ambassadors promoting Terengganu’s products and culture, they will gain a wider market for their products and draw visitors to the state,” he told reporters when met at the official opening of the carnival, Sunday. Rosman said the special thing about the carnival was the availability of various traditional food and a wide selection of songket and batik offered at reasonable prices. “Terengganu is not just known for its beautiful songket and batik but also for its delicious food,” he said, adding that during the carnival there would also be the rendition of Terengganu traditional songs, and batik drawing and cooking demonstrations. -- BERNAMA
