Malaysian Students Mesmerised By Beauty Of Indian Cities

By M. Santhiran NEW DELHI, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Thirty-seven Malaysian students were mesmerised by the beauty of Agra and New Delhi's historical cities during their five-day trip here. The students, from the Malaysian private university of Management and Science University's international business faculty, said they were also charmed by the hospitality of its people and awareness in preserving their culture and heritage. The students who were first-time visitors to India said they gained more first-hand information about the country, especially during their interaction with two leading college students here in the capital. They visited Shri Ram College of Commerce and Shri Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College. Third-year student, Chan Ai Ling, 22, said it was totally a different experience when she visited the majestic Taj Mahal and Red Fort in Agra. "I have seen it in the movies and documenteries but never expected these marvels are still intact and well preserved even though they were built centuries ago," she said when met at a hotel here. Sharing similar views, her varsity mate, Emiridyal Pirzada Rizvi, 22, said both cities were much more cleaner and beautiful than what he had been told. "I have heard lot of negative aspects of Indian cities, but the past four days was an eye-opener for me after what I witnessed here and its people. The student said visits to two colleges and interaction with students here helped him to understand the diversity of its culture and religion. Meanwhile, L. Shangari, 22, of Kuala Lumpur said the trip would always remain in her memory for years to come, and planned to re-visit the Taj Mahal one day with her family. Their lecturer, Khairul Anuar, 38, said it was the 18th trip led by him after a similar visit with another group of students to China last year. He said the visit was part of the global strategic management subject where students were encouraged to explore and gain knowledge on how businesses were carried out in emerging markets like India. --BERNAMA
