Malaysia's KLIA2 Undergoes Facility Upgrades

SEPANG (Selangor, Malaysia), Oct 13 (Bernama) -- With 24 million passengers having passed through its gates in five months of operation, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), has undergone several recent facility upgrades. The move was aimed at enhancing customer convenience and experience at the hybrid airport. Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) Managing Director Badlisham Ghazali said the among the latest convenience at the KLIA2 is the free buggy service for passengers to address the long walking distance at both the international and domestic departure, arrival halls. "By end-2014, there will be three additional walkalators installed at the Skybridge. Two, will be at the international departure area, and the other at the international arrival. "Another 16 walkalators will be installed by 2015," he told reporters during the "Customer Comes First" Media Tour at the KLIA2 here Monday. Badlisham said the KLIA2 had the capacity to handle 45 million passengers annually with 68 gates. The other facilities at the KLIA2 includes duty free outlets which opened on Sept 15 and the Sama-Sama Express Hotel. "At the duty free outlets, passengers can enjoy a wide range of duty-free buys, while Sama-Sama Express has 70 rooms that provide lodging facilities for passengers in transit," Badlisham said. Besides the food court which operates based on the stalls concept, KLIA2 now has a kids, sports and movie lounges to keep passengers entertained, while waiting for flights. --BERNAMA
