Malaysia's Sultan Abu Bakar Museum Wins DFA 2015 Award

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- The renovation project of Sultan Abu Bakar Museum in Pekan of Malaysian state Pahang has won the Design for Asia (DFA) category award in Hong Kong. The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) said Sultan Abu Bakar Museum won based on the identity of its architectural design which promotes traditional ​​and contemporary values. ECERDC chief executive officer Jebasingam Issace John said they were honoured by the award as it was the first museum renovation project undertaken by the council. "The Pahang royal town is rich in history and culture. We want to celebrate this uniqueness by renovating heritage buildings and promote them as tourist attractions," he said in a statement Thursday.
