OANA Delegates Awed By Uniqueness Of Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's racial, religious and cultural diversity portrayed its uniqueness, said Mongolian National News Agency (Montasme) deputy director, Batbold Shoovdor. Shoovdor, who was attending the 38th Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Executive Board Meeting hosted by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), today visited the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation's Craft Complex, here. Shoovdor told Bernama that he was surprised with Malaysia's well-developed infrastructure and harmonious environment, despite its plural society. He described Malaysian handicrafts as unique as they carried different cultural elements. "Malaysia is developing really fast, but what makes it different is its multi-ethnic society, with the Malays, Chinese, Indians and other communities living together in peace," he said. Another delegate, Dr Seidov Vugar from the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency, said although the visit was short, he managed to figure out that Malaysia was a peaceful country where people had great tolerance for each other despite the racial diversity. "This is my first time in Malaysia, and I'm very impressed with the multicultural landscape," he said. He said he was also amazed with the local batik which he described as a beautiful craft. Vugar also had the chance to create his own batik at the Craft Complex with two of his daughters, Fidan, 11, and Narmin, nine. Indonesian News Agency (Antara) chief executive officer, Drs DJ. Nachrowi, said it was great to see the Malaysian multiracial atmosphere and its rich cultural heritage. He said during his visit to the Craft Complex, he saw the variety of products although they were similar to Indonesia's craft products such as batik. "This is my first visit to the handicraft centre and it shows the uniqueness of Malaysia," he said. (photoBERNAMA) -- BERNAMA
