Russia, Tanzania to increase inflow of Russian tourists to Tanzania, says minister

DAR ES SALAAM, April 28. /TASS/. Russia and Tanzania have agreed to promote and expand the traveling by Russian tourists to this country, the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov said on Thursday in the course of a visit of the Russian delegation to Dar es Salaam. "We don’t know the exact number of Russian tourists visiting Tanzania because they arrive here via other countries," Manturov said. "We agreed on a special business mission to Russia by Tanzanian tour operators so that they could get appropriate contacts with Russian tour operators and officials from the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism. Representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and executives of a number of Russian companies are visiting Tanzania and Zimbabwe as part of a mission that may mark Russia’s return to the fast-growing African markets. In the course of the visit, Manturov is expected to hold talks with Tanzanian Vice-President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Charles Mwijage. He said earlier Tanzanian counterparts also express interest in the arrival of Russian investors in this country, specifically for investing in crop husbandry, cattle breeding and the processing of agricultural produce. The Russian Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) says Egypt as the most popular destination on African soil from January through September 2015 (Russia suspended all commercial flights there last November). It was visited by 1.6 million Russians Tunisia that hosted 39,400 Russians ranked second. Russian tourists can also be seen frequently in Morocco and Mauritius. Read more
