Singapore, Melaka To Strengthen Tourism Collaboration

MELAKA (Malaysia), Feb 5 (Bernama) -- Singapore and Melaka are looking to strengthen collaboration in tourism, especially in beefing up tourist arrivals between the two tourist destinations. Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon (center) has described Melaka as a true testimony of the rich history, racial harmony and unity which Malaysia was noted for. This, he said, was a great boost for tourism. "I think Singaporeans feel at home in Melaka, which is not just a tourist destination, but also an avenue to taste local food, sight-seeing and taking in places of historical interest. "I can see a lot of potential for collaboration between Singapore and Melaka, and one of the best is tourism," he told a press conference after making a courtesy call on Melaka Chief Minister Idris Haron (left) at his office in Seri Negeri here Thursday. Meanwhile, Idris said Melaka was keen to collaborate with Singapore, not only in tourism, but also in building a green city here. "Singapore has always been in the forefront of the green technology spectrum and we hope to collaborate in developing green technology here," he added. (photoBERNAMA) -- BERNAMA
