Sungai Sedim Rapids Recreational Area To Become International Canoe Circuit

KULIM (Kedah, Malaysia), Sept 9 (Bernama) -- The Sungai Sedim Rapids recreation area near here will be made an international level canoe competition circuit once works to upgrade the river flow are completed in the first quarter of next year. Malaysian Canoe Association (Masca) president, Zukafli Abas said the river had been identified as the best location in the country for the sport. He said the association would conduct a study of the river for the Sungai Sedim Development Committee and make proposals for the upgrading of the river flow. "We are excited about the water quality in the river and the rapids as well as the easy access to it," he said after attending a meeting of the Sungai Sedim Tourism Development Committee (JKPPSS) here Tuesday. Also present at the meeting were Kulim/Bandar Baharu Member of Parliament Abdul Aziz Sheikh Fadzir and Tourism Malaysia Advertising Division director Abdul Khani Daud.
