Tourism Board, Jiangxi Tourism Panel Sign MoU To Promote Tourism

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), March 8 (Bernama) -- The Sabah Tourism Board (STB) and the Tourism Development Committee (TDC) of Jiangxi Province, China, on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote tourism between east Malaysian state, Sabah and the province. The MOU was signed by STB General Manager, Irene Benggon Charuruks (sit, right) and TDC by its General Manager Ding Xiaoqun (sit, left). Also present were STB Chairman, Joniston Bangkuai (stand, centre), and China's Deputy Consul-General to Sabah, Sun Xiaowu. Joniston said the trust of the MOU was to boost the participation of tourism companies and government agencies of the two parties in activities that would strengthen tourism including business exhibitions. He said one of the activities was the invitation to Sabah companies and tourism agencies to participate in Jiangxi Province tourism exposition which will be held in September this year. "If Sabah manages to attract one per cent of the Jiangxi population, or 450,000 to visit Sabah, it will be big enough. Ding said representatives from Sabah's tourism companies, government tourism bodies and media representatives will visit the province to look for opportunities to promote the tourism sector.
