YOU Wings AOR Introduces Alor Setar-Medan Flights

ALOR SETAR (Kedah, Malaysia), April 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysian local airline company, YOU Wings AOR Sdn Bhd on Tuesday introduced flights from the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport to Medan, Indonesia beginning Aug 27, 2015. Its executive chairman, Tunku Johanez Tunku Annuar (two, left) said the twice weekly flights from Alor Setar (in Malaysia's northern state, Kedah) to Medan would use Boeing 737-500W and Boeing 737-400 aircraft. "The twice weekly flights on Thursday and Sunday offer two-way fares starting from US$138.9 (RM504), besides providing full services including free baggage service. "The Boeing 737-500W aircraft is able to accommodate some 120 passengers while Boeing 737-400 can accommodate 168 passengers," he said after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding between YOU Wings Sdn Bhd and Bumi Aviation Sdn Bhd here, Tuesday. For a start, the airline is targeting to sell 80 per cent of ticket sales for the Alor Setar-Medan route, depending on the passenger capacity of the aircraft being used. Tunku Johanez said Medan was chosen for the flights due to its location which is near Kedah, and also because it is one of the popular destinations among tourists. "The flight only takes 55 minutes. Ticket bookings will be opened on May 15, and is expected to attract interest from tourists not only from Kedah but also Perlis and Southern Thailand," he said. According to him, passengers could also go to Jakarta using this flight service but must transit in Medan first before the flight continues to Indonesia's capital city. He said the airline would expand its flight services from Alor Setar to Acheh, Surabaya, Jogjakarta, Thailand and China in the near future. (photoBERNAMA) --BERNAMA
