Saffron harvest in northern Iran

GORGAN, Golestan Prov., Nov. 12 (MNA) -- Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world. It's derived from the dried stigmas of the saffron crocus and has a deep auburn color and sweet flavor. Iran is the world largest producer of saffron. It is widely cultivated the eastern and southeastern provinces of Fars, Kerman, and those in the Khorassan region.
