Presidents of Mongolia and South Korea hold official talks

President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj and his South Korean counterpart Park Geun-hye held Thursday official talks in Seoul.

Park Geun-hye thanked her Mongolian counterpart for visiting South Korea, and expressed satisfaction with the successful celebration of the 25th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic relations last year. She believes that the bilateral relations and cooperation will broaden further.

The Mongolian President said he is pleased to visit South Korea that has friendly relations with Mongolia, and he is convinced that this visit would significantly contribute to boosting the bilateral cooperation and fortifying the people-to-people ties.

“Our countries share common values--human rights and the democracy in the bilateral relations, as well as an international and regional arenas,” underlined Elbegdorj.
During the talks, the sides emphasized the both countries have developed the democracy and market economy, and both a wide potential to stimulate bilateral economic and trade cooperation, promote mutual investments and foster mutually-beneficial collaboration.

Established last year, the Mongolia-South Korea intergovernmental joint committee organized this year its second meeting, said the Presidents and hoped this structure would turn into a vital mechanism for exchanging views concerning the economic cooperation.

Elbegdorj underlined that official assistance from South Korea has contributed to the development of Mongolia, and proposed co-implementing particular projects and programs in the fields of mining, infrastructure and energy. He pointed out that the direct flight between Ulaanbaatar and Pusan will start from this June on.
At the end of the talks, Elbegdorj mentioned that Mongolia is ensuring preparations for the upcoming 11th ASEM Summit in Ulaanbaatar and acknowledged readiness of the South Korean President to join the Summit.
