Today, President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj met with the President of the European Commission, Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker.
President Elbegdorj highlighted that Mongolia gives utmost importance to the bilateral relations with the European Union and expressed appreciation to the European Commission and its President Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker for his consideration of the development of mutual ties.

President Elbegdorj expressed Mongolia’s proposal to enhance bilateral economic ties with the European Union, in particular, cooperating with the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and using financial mechanism of the European Commission. Also, President of Mongolia proposed to implement joint projects on the renewable energy. President of the European Commission, Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker accepted President’s proposals and promised to implement them.

The parties exchanged views on the organizational issues of the ASEM Summit in Ulaanbaatar and Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker noted that the European Commission will fully support Mongolia in this regard. They emphasized the importance of the development of bilateral people-to-people relations and promoting the exchange of students and scholars.

On the same day, President Elbegdorj welcomed delegates of the European Parliament’s group of the Central Asia and Mongolia.
