EAEU digital agenda to be discussed at meeting in Sochi - aide to Russian President

MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/. The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will discuss development of the digital economy in member-states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) at the meeting in Sochi on October 11, Russian President’s aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters on Monday. "Regarding the agenda, there will be several indeed important matters. One of them is guidelines on implementation of the digital agenda of the Eurasian Economic Union by 2025. The relevant decision was made and this decision determines general principles to be the basis for implementing the digital agenda of the Union," Ushakov said. In particular, it is stipulated that the EAEU member-nations will pursue a concerted policy in development of the internet-economy and preparation of general rules for digital commerce and unified standards of information exchange and security. Leaders of EAEU countries will also discuss main areas of international activity of the Eurasian Economic Union for 2018, Ushakov said. "In particular, deepening of EAEU interaction with key trading partners interested in cooperation with our association is envisaged. Head of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sarkisyan will report on outcomes of talks on the temporary agreement for the future free trade zone with Iran; the issue of inviting Moldova for a separate event of the Eurasian Economic Union will also be considered," the official said. The meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be held in Sochi on October 11 after the CIS summit meeting. Read more
