Iran-Turkmen-Kazakh railway to open soon

Tehran, Nov 22, IRNA - Vice President for coordination and administrative affairs said here on Saturday that the railroad connecting Iran to two Central Asian countries of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will open in December. Speaking to IRNA, Ali-Asghar Ahmadi added that the railway will be inaugurated concurrent with the upcoming visit of the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to northern province of Golestan. The inauguration ceremony will be held in Inche-Boroun on Iran-Turkmenistan joint borderline, he added. The railway is of 920 kilometers length, 85 kilometers of which pass through Iran, 700 kilometers through Turkmenistan and 140 kilometers through Kazakhstan. The route will shorten the distance between the Persian Gulf, Central Asia and Europe by some 600 kilometers, causing reduction in transportation costs./end
