Nat'l Petrochemical Production Capacity Stood At 60m Tons Last Year

Tehran, April 8, IRNA – Iranˈs petrochemical production capacity rose to about 60 million tons in the last Iranian calendar year of 1391 (March 21, 2012-March 20, 2013). The increase in the production capacity was due to successful commissioning of a number of petrochemical projects, including Jam Petrochemical Facilityˈs butane 1 unit, Ehtemam Jam Facilityˈs formalin and UFC units, Arvand Petrochemical Facilityˈs alkalide chloride and PVC units, Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organizationˈs second liquids dock, Marun Petrochemical Facilityˈs ASU unit, the first phase of Kavian Petrochemical Facilityˈs olefin 11 unit, the first phase of West Petrochemical Facilityˈs ethylene pipe production unit, Kermanshah Petrochemical Facilityˈs heavy polyethylene unit, Gamrun Petrochemical Industryˈs formaline petro unit and Bandar Imam Petrochemical Facilityˈs NF III unit. Moreover, more than 37,3 million tons of petrochemical products were produced in 11 months last year. Out of the amount, 14.5 million tons, worth $10.2 billion were exported and 11.2 million tons valued at rls 144,000 billion, were sold on domestic markets. Furthermore, 1.5 million tons of urea fertilizers were delivered to the Agricultural Jihad Ministry for distribution among farmers. Last year, petrochemical products were exported to more than 60 countries. 18.5 percent of the products were exported to Far East Asia, 22.7 percent to China, 31.3 percent to Central Asia, 6.1 percent to Southeast Asia, 6.2 percent to Africa and one percent to other parts of the world.
