Package of agreements to be signed in autumn following talks between Putin, Abe

MOSCOW, April 28. /TASS/. Moscow is satisfied with the talks that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held on Thursday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said at a meeting with Japanese Trade Minister Hiroshige Seko. According to Shuvalov, now the two countries will have to work hard to prepare the planned agreements so that the leaders could sign them on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum due in September. "We are very much satisfied with the outcome of the high-level talks, but now both parties should work hard, in the best way they can, in order to provide our leaders with an opportunity to sign documents drawn up by the governments,in accordance with the eight-point cooperation plan that the two countries have been implementing," the Russian deputy prime minister said. Shuvalov confirmed his intention to facilitate activities aimed at solving bilateral issues. Seko, in turn, pointed out that Japan welcomed the appointment of Russian Economic Development Minister Maksim Oreshkin as Special Presidential Representative for trade and economic cooperation with Japan. The Japanese trade minister noted that ahead of Friday’s talks, a document had been signed which aimed at keeping the eight-point cooperation plan up to date. Read more
