Setting up new poultry units banned

Sari, Mazandaran Prov., Dec 17, IRNA – A deputy at Agriculture Jihad Ministry said operation of new poultry units in the country has been banned. Hassan Rokni further remarked that efforts are being made to improve the quality of poultry units and make them economical. Stressing that annually two million tons of chicken is being produced in the country, he said Iran is the seventh world country in the field of chicken production. He further remarked that if all the available capacities are used in the production of chicken, 50% will be added to the products without adding new poultry units to the present ones. He noted that up to the past year Iran was an importer of chicken to the extent that in 1391 (2012-2013) 50 tons of chicken were imported but in the current year not only chicken import has been halted but its export increased by 20%. Rokni said through constructive interaction between the Agriculture Jihad Ministry, the associations and poultry owners, security of production and stability of price will be realized. Meanwhile, Majlis Deputy from Babol, Hossein Niyaz Azari said removal of problems in the field of poultry industry in Mazandaran Province is necessary. Referring to the point that Mazandaran province is the third effective province in the production of chicken, Niyaz Azari said all the capacities will be employed for the boom of the product and its export. Also speaking, Governor of Babol, Rajab Molaei Raeisi said support for the producers is effective in resistance economy. He said the city of Babol with a population of 500 thousand ranks first in Mazandaran Province in terms of chicken production.
