Turkish premier expects record third quarter growth

IZMIR, Turkey Turkey expects record third quarter growth to become the fastest-growing G-20 country, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Wednesday. Speaking at the Aegean Economic Forum in western Izmir province, Yildirim said: “Turkey may break a record in the third quarter. “In the third quarter, Turkey will most probably be the fastest-growing country in the G-20.” Results of the third quarter economic growth are expected to be released in December. Yildirim also said “2018 will be better for Turkey than 2017”. “The inflation rate will remain single-digit and the growth target will be at least 5.5,” the premier said, adding the third quarter growth might be double digits in 2017. “Don’t be surprised if the year-end growth becomes seven percent though.” Yildirim also pointed out improvement in the global economy and said a recovery in the European economy was also expected. “However, there are still some issues to be regarded. The economic fragility and the regional tension in the wake of the global crises are not over yet,” he said.
