Three Iranian directors at Oscars 2015

Tehran, Oct 12, IRNA - In addition to Reza Mirkarimi’s ‘Today’, the official Iranian entry to the 87th Academy Awards, two other films by Iranian directors are also participating in the gala. ‘A Few Cubic Meters of Love’, directed by Jamshid Mahmoudi and a feature debut ‘Mardan’ by Batin Ghobadi have been submitted to the event’s foreign language category as representatives of Afghanistan and Iraq respectively. A movie about Afghan immigrants, ‘A Few Cubic Meters of Love’ tells the story of an Afghan girl and an Iranian boy who live and work together illegally in a workshop in Iran, he noted. The cast includes Saed Soheili, Nader Fallah, Hasiba Ebrahimi and Masoud Mirtaheri. In ‘Mardan’, a police officer finds himself haunted by a traumatic childhood memory as he searches for a missing man in the rugged mountains of Iraqi Kurdistan. Nominations for the 2015 Academy Awards will be announced on January 15, while the ceremony itself will take place on February 22./end
