BMA watches out dengue fever

BANGKOK, August 21 (TNA)- The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has watched out against dengue fever, after a teenager was killed by the common house mosquito-borne disease. Methipoj Chatametheekul, Director of the Communicable Disease Control Division, under the BMA's Health Department, told journalists of the stance on Monday, noting, however, that the death toll from dengue fever in the capital has remained at one so far this year, compared to four during the corresponding period of last year. According to the BMA senior official, the fatality case from dengue fever was a 14-year-old girl in Nong Chok area on the outskirts of Bangkok who was infected with the mosquito-borne disease for the second time but she was not detected with any persistent disease or illness. The BMA senior official called on people in the capital to be on alert against the deadly disease by always keeping their places clean and tidy and eliminating breeding sources of the common house or Aedes mosquitoes in their places and communities.
