Bus Accident Leaves 24 Dead In Eastern Pakistan

Islamabad, Oct 31, IRNA -- At least 24 people were killed and eight were critically injured when a wagon and truck collided in eastern Punjab province on Tuesday, police said. The wagon, was going to Ahmedpur Sharkia from Bahawalpur, was carrying excess passengers which caused the driver to lose control and collide with a truck while turning from Link Road onto the bypass. According to witnesses, the rescue teams reached late, while the injured were shifted to the Victoria hospital in Bahawalpur. Women and children were among those killed and the death toll is expected to rise./end
